The Central City Salutes Banner Program

The City of Central City, in collaboration with Central City AmVets Post 37, is proud to introduce the Central City Salutes Program. This U.S. Military Banner Program initiative honors and acknowledges individuals who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. The program seeks to publicly recognize and express gratitude to military personnel, veterans, and their families with connections to the Central City Community.

Program Details:

    • Eligibility: The individual must have served in any of the following branches of the US Armed Forces (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or National Guard/Reserves) and must also meet one of the following conditions:

        o Currently be an active service member

        o Be an honorably discharged veteran, POW, MIA, or KIA.

Banner Specifications:

    • Size and Design: Each banner is double-sided, full-color, 24" x 48", and custom- made with a photo of the honoree (provided by the applicant).

    • Display: Banners will be displayed on the decorative light poles throughout Central City from Memorial Day through Veterans Day in 2026 and reinstalled in 2027 from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.

    • Limitations: Only one banner per honoree will be featured, and each banner will feature a single individual. You may not honor the same person more than once per two-year rotation.

Cost and Payment:

    • Price: $150 per banner (valid for two years). This includes the banner’s creation, installation, maintenance, and contribution to local veterans’ programs.

    • Payment: Payments can be made by check or cash. Checks should be made payable to AmVets. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How to Apply:

    1. Complete the Application: Fill out the Application form below.

    2. Submit a Photo: Provide a high-quality military photo of the honoree (in uniform). The photo must be submitted in person to Central City City Hall as a hard copy. The photo will be scanned in person and returned immediately to the applicant.

    3. Submit Payment: Deliver the completed form with payment by March 31, 2026, to:

Important Dates:

    • Application Deadline: March 31, 2026, or until banners are sold out. 25 banners will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis per year.

    • Banner Display Period: Memorial through Veterans Day in 2026 and Memorial Day through Veterans Day 2027.

Additional Information:

    • Damage Policy: The City of Central City will not be responsible for replacing banners stolen, damaged, or destroyed by weather, vandalism, or any act of nature beyond our control, such as high winds, etc.

    • Banner Removal and Return: After the two-year display period, applicants will have until January 1, 2028, to retrieve their banner at Central City City Hall during normal business hours.
